ANKARA - DEM Party Women's Assembly left a black wreath with the slogan “Stop the executions” in front of the Iranian Embassy against the executions in Iran and said: “The voices of Peshxan and Şerife will spread all over the world with the slogan ‘Jin, jiyan, azadi’.”

The Women's Assembly of the Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) gathered in front of the Iranian Embassy to react to the executions in Iran. However, the police tried to prevent the women from making a statement. The women reacted against the police and reminded the statements made in front of the Israeli Embassy. The women, who were not allowed to go in front of the embassy building despite their insistence and reactions, made a statement in front of the police shields with photographs of women executed by Iran.

Speaking at the statement, DEM Party Ankara Provincial Co-Chair Tatlıgül Gül said: “We have gathered to raise our voices for journalist Pexşan Azizi and activist Şerife Muhammed, who were sentenced to death by the Iranian regime on July 23rd, to show that they are not alone and that the struggle continues everywhere. In her letter calling for sensitivity to the world public opinion, Pexşan Azizi addresses us as follows; 'Şerife Muhammed and I and the other women waiting on death row are not the first and will not be the last women to be condemned only for their quest for a free and dignified life. However, freedom cannot be realized without giving life. The price of freedom is heavy. Our crime is to unite ‘Jin, jiyan, azadî (Women, life, freedom)'. With this black wreath, we protest against the male-dominated regime against the courage, resistance and just struggle of our two women comrades.”

'THIS VOICE WILL SPREAD TO THE WORLD'

Gül continued by stating the following: “We want to emphasize once again that such punishments undermine human dignity. The voice of Pexşan and Şerife will spread from here to the whole world with the slogan 'Jin, jiyan, azadî' as in Jîna Emînî's resistance. Do not remain silent against this oppression in Iran. Let's stand with women, Kurds and all oppressed people and fight together against these inhumane practices. We call on the Iranian government once again; this is murder and end the killings. Respect international law and human rights and lift the death sentences against Pexşan Azizi and Şerife Muhammed. We will never stop standing and fighting against these sentences.”
