Kurdish politician Ethem Barzani, in a statement on the murder of the Free Press workers, said: “The martyrdom of two journalists is an international crime and contrary to all human rights laws and standards. It is a violation of the rights of citizens and journalism. We are going through a period in which the country is bombed and occupied every day and unarmed children are martyred far from all human standards. I express my condolences to the families and friends of the two martyred journalists and wish a speedy recovery to the wounded. I call on the international community to put an end to these violations, which have become a serious threat to civilian lives.”
