1 arrest in Kurdish song and halay detentions

AGIRÎ - 1 of 7 people detained in Bazîd district of Agirî on the grounds of Kurdish song and halay was arrested on the allegation of “making propaganda for an illegal organization”. 
 
Musician Gökhan Rızaoğulları, one of the 7 people detained during house raids in Bazîd (Doğubayazıt) district of Agirî (Ağrı) on July 25, was arrested on the allegation of “making propaganda for an illegal organization”. They were targeted by racist groups for singing Kurdish songs and dancing the halay at a wedding held in the district two weeks ago. Gökhan Rızaoğuları, Okan Sedirken, Cahit Birdal, İbrahim Yardımcı, a child named M. and 2 unidentified people were detained. 
 
ARRESTED FOR 'MEMBERSHIP'!
 
While 4 people were released after their statements at the District Security Directorate, musicians Rızaoğuları, Sedirkan and Birdal were referred to the prosecutor's office. The prosecutor referred Rızaoğuları to the Ağrı Criminal Court of Peace with the condition of arrest and Sedirkan and Birdal with judicial control. 
 
Rızaoğuları was arrested on the charge of “making propaganda for an illegal organization”. The other 2 people were released on judicial control conditions. Rızaoğuları's arrest was justified on the grounds that “it was concluded that his action would turn into membership of an illegal organization”.
