WAN - Asking for initiatives to be taken regarding the applications made to the Ministry of Justice to end the state of absolute lack of communication towards PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners held in Imrali, ÖHD applied to the Wan Bar Association.
There has been no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners Ömer Hayri Konar, Veysi Aktaş and Hamili Yıldırım, who are held in Imrali Type F High Security Prison, for 39 months. After no response was given to the application made by 1,300 lawyers to the Ministry of Justice regarding the "absolute" discrimination in Imrali, 74 lawyers who are members of the Wan Branch of the Association of Lawyers for Freedom (ÖHD) applied to the Wan Bar Association.
Making a short statement before the application, ÖHD Wan Branch Co-chair Mehtap Işık stated that there was no news from PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and other prisoners held in Imrali and said: “In January, 1,300 lawyers from 35 bar associations applied to the Ministry of Justice to meet with our client, Mr. Öcalan. Even though 6 months have passed since the application period, the ministry has not responded. We are applying to the Wan Bar Association to end the isolation on Mr. Öcalan and to meet with our client."
