RIHA - The release of journalist Derya Ren, held in Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison, was postponed for 3 months on the grounds of "disciplinary punishment".

The release of JINNEWS reporter Derya Ren, who was detained during home raids on October 25, 2022 within the scope of an Ankara-based investigation and arrested on the basis of her approved file, was postponed for 3 months, citing "disciplinary punishment".

Ren was arrested after the Urfa 6th High Criminal Court sentenced Ren to 3 years, 13 months and 15 days in prison on the charge of "knowingly aiding a terrorist organization" and was approved by the Supreme Court in 2022. Ren sent a petition to the Diyarbakır 1st Execution Judgeship on August 31, 2023 for "conditional release". The judgeship rejected Ren's demand on October 17, 2023, with the excuse of not making a ward change.

The release of journalist Ren, who was waiting to be released on May 6, was postponed for 3 months by the Administration and Observation Board, citing "disciplinary offense".

Ren's lawyers will appeal the decision.
