İZMİR - Journalist Amed Dicle said that Turkey, which has not been able to suppress the Kurdish struggle with cross-border operations so far, wants to get results by involving different forces this time. About the role of KDP in the preparation of the new attack Dicle said: "It is right in the middle of what is happening diplomatically, militarily and economically."

Continuing the attacks launched on April 17, 2022 against the Zap, Metina and Avaşin areas of the Federated Kurdistan Region, Turkey is preparing for a new comprehensive attack on the region. For this purpose, while diplomatic traffic has been carried out with the Iraqi and Federated Kurdistan governments and their military officials as well as US officials for months, AKP Chair and President Tayyip Erdoğan announced in his statement after the cabinet meeting he chaired on March 4 that they were preparing for an attack on Media Defense Areas.

Following the statement, contacts intensified between Ankara, Baghdad and Erbil, and finally, Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan, Minister of National Defense (MSB) Yaşar Güler and National Intelligence Organization (MIT) Undersecretary Ibrahim Kalın visited Iraq and the Federated Kurdistan Region's security officials in Baghdad on March 14.

In the joint statement published after the meeting, it was said: "The parties discussed the measures to be taken against the organizations and their extensions that target Turkey using Iraqi territory."
Journalist Amed Dicle evaluated Turkey's new attack plan against Media Defense Areas and its diplomatic contacts.

Stating that Turkey wants to be permanent in Federated Kurdistan and Northern and Eastern Syria, Amed Dicle stated that Turkey aims to leave the Kurds without status for another hundred years.

Dicle said: “Turkey knows that the status in both Bashur and Rojava will motivate the Kurds in Bakur. For this reason, it carries the fight against the Kurds beyond its own borders and does not only aim to suppress the Kurdish struggle. When it invades Bashur and Rojava, it plans to establish dominance over Iraq and Syria and become the center of power against other states in the region."

'THE GOAL IS THE OCCUPATION OF KURDISTAN'

Pointing out that Minister of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan has recently started to use new concepts such as "terror diplomacy" and "terrorism", Dicle said: "Turkey has carried out major attacks in military terms, especially in Rojava and Bashur, after 2017. Afrin invasion in 2018, Serekani and Girê attacked Heftanin in the same week in 2019. The attack launched against Zap, Metina and Avaşin under the name of 'Claw Lock operation' is still continuing. Turkey only invades certain points by land and air with military attacks. According to the planning made in 2014, Turkey's aim in 2023 was to invade Kurdistan in its centennial year and liquidate Kurdish politics. But when we came to 2024, the Kurdish struggle could not be suppressed, although it made the Kurds pay a very heavy price. Turkey also sees this fact. and it says 'we can't win without different forces'.”

CONFESSION THAT THE WAR LOST

Pointing out that Turkey, which wants to include powers such as KDP, Iran and Iraq more in this war with this concept, is also meeting with the USA, England and European countries, Dicle said: "It continues its diplomacy of including those who are in the process of this war and neutralizing those who are not. This is also an admission that Turkey has lost the war it has been waging for the last few years."

DESPITE 50 THOUSAND SOLDIERS, DOMINATION COULD NOT BE ESTABLISHED

Amed Dicle emphasized that Turkey has always had a plan to launch a land attack on Northern and Eastern Syria, but noted that it has not been able to attack for now due to its diplomatic infrastructure, the Israel-Gaza war, and the experiences it gained in the attacks on Afrin, Girê Sipî and Serêkanî. Claiming that Turkey received advice in its talks with the USA that Northern and Eastern Syria would be ineffective if the PKK is neutralized, Dicle said: “Turkey said, 'We will invade Southern Kurdistan and destroy the current Kurdish status there, and even if we cannot, it will be under our control.’ There is an approach of 'we will take it'. They are planning to take control of the borders up to Mosul, Kirkuk and Shengal. In this way, they say, 'We will leave Rojava breathless'. Turkey does not express this openly, but the concept of war has continued in the same way lately. They aim to continue the attacks by opening new windows in 2024. Because previously, Turkey advanced a little in the region, positioned 50 thousand soldiers, but could not achieve full dominance.”

Saying that Turkey is trying to get Iraq's consent for a new attack for these purposes, Dicle said that they are trying to create the perception that they are "fighting against terrorism" to legitimize this.

KDP'S ROLE?

Referring to the role of the KDP with the agreement made with Iraq, Dicle said: "They want to attack certain areas of Gare and settle on the hills of Mosul and take control. Turkey wants the KDP to be more involved in this war, and joint coordination has already been established. PKK Executive Committee Member Murat Karayılan said, ‘We have heard that KDP special forces have been instructed to be ready by the end of March. According to some information we have received, Mesut Barzani asked the leaders of the community, especially those living in Deraluk, Şeladizê, Amedîye line, to cooperate with Turkey and cooperate with the PKK.’ Those who cooperate will be arrested." KDP said to Turkey, ‘It is not enough for me to be alone. This must be legitimized by the decision of the Federal District Government. This will be a legitimacy by both the Kurds living in the region and the international states. For this purpose, Turkey sometimes meets with the PUK, sometimes threatens it. It also meets with other political parties and people with power in the region."

CLAIM: 'BARZANI'S NIECE MEETS WITH TURKISH OFFICIALS'

Sharing some information that some forces affiliated with the KDP held meetings with Turkish officials wearing Iraqi uniforms, Dicle also claimed that one of Massoud Barzani's nephews was present in these meetings.

'KDP IS IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS'

Stating that the Iraqi Army may not be aware of these contacts, Dicle said: "KDP is in the middle of this diplomatically, militarily and economically. If it gets involved in the war as explained by Karayılan, it will not be possible to talk about the military structure of the KDP in Southern Kurdistan. In such a case, Turkey would be more accurate to describe them as the Kurdish-acting extensions of Kurdistan in Southern Kurdistan. Parastın, Roj and Zarava are specially trained forces directly affiliated with the KDP. These forces have never been seen to be in a position for the Kurds, especially ISIS. Their only purpose is to take a position against the PKK and Rojava. If the PKK end from the region, the KDP will have no function. If an area is opened, this is to use the KDP against the PKK."
