DBP member Dere was released after 8 months

MERSİN - DBP member Cengiz Dere, who was arrested in Mersin on allegations of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "providing financing to a terrorist organization", was released after 8 months.

In the house raids carried out on May 23, 2023 in Mersin, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executives Kadri Ezer and Cengiz Dere and Çukurova Detainee and Convict Families and Assistance Association (Çukurova TUAY-DER) executives Esmer Oğuz, Beşir Acar and Selim Ekici were detained. Dere and Ezer were arrested on May 26 on allegations of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "providing financing to a terrorist organization". The other names were released on condition of judicial control.
 
The first hearing of the case in which Dere and Ezer were tried on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" and "providing finance to a terrorist organization". Oğuz, Acar and Ekici on charges of "being a member of a terrorist organization" was held today. Prisoners Dere and Ezer and those on trial without detention were present at the hearing. Those on trial denied the accusations. Following the defense statements, the court decided to continue Ezer's detention and to release Dere on condition of judicial control. The hearing was postponed to March 25.
