ANKARA- Kurd politician Gültan Kışanak, who stated that making a statement about the torture in Diyarbakır Prison was a matter of accusation, said: “I experienced that cruelty and torture in Diyarbakır prison. Those who try to scare me with these cells today must know that Esat Oktay could not scare me."

The Kobanê Case continues in the hall of Sincan Prison Campus with the defense of former Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality (DBB) Co-chair Gültan Kışanak. During the break, it was learned that Kışanak had a minor health problem but was in good condition. Speaking on SEGBİS through lawyers, Kışanak said: "I am fine now, I will continue."

ESAT OKTAY DID NOT SCARE ME

I make political propaganda of People's Democracy Party (HDP) and support it. HDP is a party that shouts the slogan of the people, is this a crime? They say, ‘Why did you defend the unity  of peoples, then you are a terrorist?’ It pains me to be in a position to defend myself against these accusations that eliminate all human values. I am speaking to the people of Turkey to say that our sense of unity is on the death row, in these trials, in prisons and cells. Yes, we are one in the cause, this cause is our cause. Don’t you want the people of this country to stand side by side? What do you want from us? Behind this mentality is the coup logic and the logic of targeting democracy. I experienced that cruelty and torture in Diyarbakır prison. Those who try to scare me with these cells today must know that Esat Oktay did not scare me. I am with the socialists to prevent us from leaving this country to that pack of murderers. No one can judge me just because I made a statement about the Diyarbakir atrocity. Those who kept those mentalities alive today owe me an apology. The prosecutor was ashamed because I wanted Diyarbakır prison to be a museum and because I visited it, so they did not make them the subject of accusation, but this ghostly mentality made them the subject of accusation in this case.

KENAN EVREN'S MINDSET LIVES IN THIS FILE TODAY

Bekir Bozdağ, the then minister of justice, who was sitting as the speaker of the parliament, came and visited me after I was elected. I handed over the file for Diyarbakır prison to become a museum and we made a statement to the press. I told him that there should be a museum not to remind of the pain experienced in Diyarbakır prison, but to say never again, and he said he agreed. He left after making statements to the press. In those years, Erdoğan was going around the squares and he was trying to gain votes based on my suffering, and now he wants me to be tried. What kind of a country do we live in, why is everything so confusing and meaningless? Now they are trying to do something themselves, I hope a museum work will result without doing anything contrary to the memory of the suffering there. The only reason these are put here as crimes is because Kenan Evren's mentality lives on in this file today.

NURULLAH HAKAN, WHO CAUSED HER ARREST, IS MISSING!

All of the allegations against me in the case file belong to the years 2011-2023. I was a member of parliament at that time, and there was not a single report sent to the parliament regarding these allegations. Because Democratic Society Congress (DTK) activities are not a crime, Cemil Çiçek sent an official invitation and said to me come and work in the parliament. There was a solution process, it all consisted of slanders falsely held by the police, in violation of legislative immunity. DTK has made the most comprehensive efforts to solve the Kurdish issue through democratic and peaceful methods. DTK, if I had a risky mission, I would be proud to defend it, but beyond that, I would not say yes to a conspiracy. There is the Nurullah Hakan case, which you keep talking about and which caused me to be arrested in Malatya. There is no such man as Nurullah Hakan. There is nothing but a few photocopies of Nurullah Hakan. Now let them find this out, there is a statement that Nurullah Hakan supposedly testified in Istanbul in 2012 and that I attended the autonomy meeting. You cannot bring a three or five page unreadable piece of paper that has listed all the deputies and cannot be shown as evidence in the case file and put it here. I am not providing legal defense, I am exposing this conspiracy, because there is no crime. Nurullah Hakan did not attend this meeting, but he knows how I attended, none of these are included in the decision. They say that Nurullah Hakan used his right to remain silent to the police, but you bring before us the documents of the police, this is how the conspiracy happens.

YOU CANNOT TERRORIZE DTK!

DTK was established with peaceful and democratic methods to solve the Kurdish issue and everyone was there. You cannot terrorize a public platform. AKP supporters who personally participate in the activities of DTK, work in it, and are in its committees are getting a lot of charters, but when it comes to us, why is it a crime? Why is DTK, which the parliament speaker officially summoned to the parliament, a crime? Permissible for those who support it, sinful for those who oppose it. We are not in a position to give up on this either. Those who were walking around as AKP MPs were fawning over DTK in order to be I don't know where. We are not people who give up our word, we are not people who are afraid. We don't give up with the threat of punishment, we don't go here sometimes and sometimes there just because the seat is closed. I am ashamed for them, they would be embarrassed if I mentioned their names.

DO TURKS HAVE THE RIGHT TO ADD THEMSELVES TO GOVERNMENT, BUT KURDS DO NOT?

Autonomy has nothing to do with the division of the state. There are countries that practice autonomy, they do not leave, why are you lying? We know that your problem is not democracy, your problem is one government. There is no such thing as ‘let's destroy the state and establish Kurdistan’ within democratic autonomy. Turkey supports autonomy in some places because the people there are ethnically Turks? Turks have the right to include themselves in the administration, but Kurds do not? Democracy, human rights and governance are everyone's right. This is a universal right. People have won this right by fighting for centuries. They cannot make this an accusation based on lies or slander.
