AGIRÎ - Gülser Özbay, who was released after 31 years and 6 months in prison, participated in the DEM Party's referendum in her hometown Bazîd, where she was welcomed with enthusiasm.
 
Gülser Özbay (68), who was released from prison after 31 years and 6 months, was welcomed with enthusiasm in the Bazîd (Doğubayazıt) district of her hometown Agirî (Ağrı). Özbay, who was released from İzmir Şakran Women's Closed Prison on January 11, went to her hometown Bazîd today. Özbay was welcomed with flowers by her relatives and friends. Özbay was welcomed here with applause and shouts. Those who welcomed Özbay frequently chanted the slogans "Jin, Jîyan, Azadî (Woman, Life, Freedom)" and "Bijî berxwedana zindanan (Long live the resistance of dungeons)".
 
Özbay said: “Lots of prisoners are in prisons and a great will is being displayed. There must be sensitivity towards sick prisoners in prisons."
