RIHA - Making a written statement on the anniversary of the occupation of Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî by Turkey and the paramilitary forces it supports, the Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria stated that the liberation of the occupied lands is a strategic and irreversible option.

The Autonomous Administration of Northern and Eastern Syria published a written statement regarding Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî, which were occupied after the attacks launched by Turkey and the paramilitary forces it supports on October 9, 2019.

In the statement, which drew attention to the violations and rights violations that have been experienced in Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî for 4 years: “The massacres and crimes committed in the occupied lands are the most heinous crimes and the biggest violation of moral standards and values, conscience and international alliances. The Turkish state's genocidal policy towards Northern and Eastern Syria is being carried out before the eyes of the world. Serêkaniyê and Girê Spî were occupied as a result of the agreements reached by the USA and Erdoğan's previous administration and international silence. Afrin was also occupied in the same way. This occupation, migration and suffering are the result of these agreements and policies."

In the statement, which reacted to the silence of the international community against the crimes committed by Turkey and the paramilitary forces it supports: “Turkey is carrying out the same policy, aggression and genocide against our regions. It derives its strength from international silence. Unfortunately, the crime and destruction that the fascist regime is currently committing is a continuation of those policies of oppression. The political atmosphere prepares the ground for attacks."

REQUEST FOR TRIAL OF TURKEY

In the continuation of the statement, it was requested that Turkey and the paramilitary forces it supports be tried for the crimes committed against the people of Northern and Eastern Syria, and it was emphasized that the option of liberating all occupied lands is a strategic and irreversible option, and that all resources will be mobilized against the policy of genocide and occupation. The statement called on all active forces in Syria, the UN, legal and humanitarian organizations and the UN Security Council not to ignore the situation in the occupied territories and the ongoing attacks in Northern and Eastern Syria.
