BATMAN - Noting that those involved in the international conspiracy against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan have been erased from history, the Mothers of Peace expressed that the Kurdish people cannot be free without Abdullah Öcalan.

Speaking on the anniversary of the international conspiracy against PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan on February 15, 1999, members of the Peace Mothers Council said that the time has come for Abdullah Öcalan's freedom. Peace Mother Halime Şimşek, who wanted the aggravating isolation in İmralı to be lifted, said: “There has been no news from Öcalan for a long time. The lack of news raises our concerns. This inhumane practice should end immediately. Do whatever it takes for that. Those who want an honorable peace should take responsibility for the freedom of Öcalan. The persecution in the prisons and the oppression of the Kurds should come to an end.”

Stating that the war that has been going on for a long time will only end through dialogue, Şimşek said that Abdullah Öcalan must be freed for this.

'THE ROLE WAS CLEARED FROM HISTORY'

Halise Bilir, who called for increasing the struggle for the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan, also called for unity among the Kurds. Bilir said: "Those who played a role in the conspiracy disappeared from history, but Abdullah Öcalan resisted in a solitary cell. We cannot be free unless Öcalan is free. No matter how great our achievements are, we cannot have won, we cannot be free, we cannot be happy unless Öcalan is free.”

Condemning the aggravated isolation that has continued for 24 years, Bilir said that the Kurdish people have the power to ensure the freedom of Abdullah Öcalan.

ISOLATION IS AGGRAVATED TORTURE

Stating that they are worried about Abdullah Öcalan's health and life, mother of Peace Şükran Akkurt said: "Enough, the Turkish state should end this isolation. Neither the family nor the lawyers are given any information. Because of this ongoing isolation in prisons, we cannot sleep comfortably at home. They meet with Öcalan and this isolation should be ended immediately. The Imrali system is a torture system. Isolation is the aggravated torture. They are trying to achieve with isolation what they could not achieve with conspiracy. But again, they will never succeed.”

Expressing that freedom of Abdullah Öcalan is a conscientious responsibility among Kurds, Akkurt called on everyone to be sensitive to the isolation.
