ANKARA - Examining the images related to chemical weapons, TTB Central Council President Şebnem Korur Fincancı said: "Obviously, one of the toxic-toxic chemical gases that directly affects the nervous system was used."

Turkish Medical Association (TTB) President and forensic medicine specialist Doctor Şebnem Korur Fincancı made evaluations about the use of chemical weapons by the Turkish Armed Forces in Zap, Metina and Avaşin in the program she was linked to in Medya Haber.

Explaining that she examined the images of guerrillas killed by chemical weapons, Fincancı said: “Obviously, one of the toxic-toxic chemical gases that directly affects the nervous system has been used. Although it is forbidden to use it, we see it used in conflicts."

'INDEPENDENT DELEGATIONS MUST REVIEW'

Pointing out that it is obligatory for independent delegations to conduct inspections in the region in accordance with international conventions, Fincancı said: "The principles of the Minnesota Protocol should be addressed, as well as how to conduct an investigation when such a claim arises within the scope of the Geneva Convention, which prohibits the implementation of international conventions and the use of chemical weapons."

'KDP IS BLOCKING NDEPENDENT DELEGATIONS'

Speaking about the KDP's blocking of independent delegations from going to the war zone to investigate, Fincancı said: "This blocking is against international conventions. The delegations of our affiliation should not be prevented from going there, but they encountered an obstacle. We called for an effective investigation into the states using these weapons."
