The journalists who followed the marching crowd after the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) rally on September 1, World Peace Day in Van yesterday, were beaten by the police. The police put Mesut Bağcı, one of the journalists who followed the crowd, to the ground, battered him and broke his camera.
 
DEATH THREAT
 
A plainclothes police officer, who introduced himself as a member of the TEM Branch, threatened Mesopotamia Agency (MA) reporter Berivan Kutlu and JINNEWS reporter Zelal Tunç with death. The police threatened the journalists by saying: "I will shoot you, no one will find you". The same police pulled a gun on JINNEWS reporter Elfazi Toral. These moments were also reflected in the images. In addition, the police tried to break their cameras, often preventing journalists from taking pictures.
 
On the other hand, it was learned that some police officers from the Security Directorate called some journalists in the city and threatened them not to display any images on the subject.
 
CRIMINAL COMPLAINT
 
Journalists whose equipment was broken, beaten and threatened with death will file a criminal complaint through the Human Rights Association (İHD) Van Branch.
