URFA - Seriously ill prisoner Bazo Yılmaz (67), who was murdered in Urfa No. 2 Type T Closed Prison, will be laid to rest in the rural Gogan District of Halfeti district.
 
Seriously ill prisoner Bazo Yılmaz (67), who was murdered last night in Urfa No. 2 Type T Closed Prison, will be laid to rest in the Gogan (Yukarı Göklü) neighborhood of the Halfeti district of Urfa. His family, who came to the Urfa Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) upon the news of the prison, took the remains after the autopsy procedures. Yılmaz's remains was taken to Gogan for burial. The remains will be laid to rest after noon.
 
Former Yukarı Göklü (Gogan) Town Mayor and Halfeti City Council member Yılmaz was detained on December 12, 2016 on the allegation that he was a member of the Democratic Society Congress (DTK). In 2018, Yılmaz was sentenced to 9 years in prison for "being a member in a terrorist organisation".
 
Yılmaz, who was killed by not being released despite being seriously ill, was given a report that he could be "held in prison" at the Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) on February 8, 2021, due to his health problems. The appeal to the Constitutional Court regarding the report was also rejected. Yılmaz, who has Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), was surviving with an oxygen device.
