Journalist Alagaş: Your cruelty will not be able to silence women journalists

DİYARBAKIR - JINNEWS News Director Safiye Alağaş, arrested recently, said the following in her message, “It should be known that no oppression or persecution will be ablesilence women journalists. We are journalists, we will continue to do our jobs."
 
As part of an investigation carried out by the Diyarbakır Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, 22 people, including 20 journalists, were detained by the police in a raid on their home on 8 June. JINNEWS News Director Safiye Alağaş, Dicle Fırat Journalists Association (DFG) Co-chair Serdar Altan, Xwebûn Editor-in-Chief Mehmet Ali Ertaş, Mesopotamia (MA) Agency Editor Aziz Oruç, Ömer Çelik and Zeynel Abidin Bulut, Mazlum Doğan Güler, İbrahim Koyuncu, Neşe Toprak, Elif Üngür, Abdurrahman Öncü, Suat Doğuhan, Remziye Temel, Ramazan Geciken, Lezgin Akdeniz and Mehmet Şahin who were taken to the courthouse on June 15 after an 8-day detention period, were arrested on charges of "membership of a terrorist organization" and "propagandising a terrorist organization". 
 
'WE WILL CONTINUE TO DO OUR JOBS'
 
JINNEWS News Director Safiye Alağaş sent a message from Diyarbakır Women's Closed Prison where she is being held. The message of Alağaş is as follows: “First of all, we are fine and in a good spirit. We were arrested because the government considers journalism a crime. It must be known that no oppression or persecution will stop women journalists or silence them. We are journalists. We will continue to do our jobs. We want to thank everyone who supported us in this process. Hope to see you all in bright, free days ahead."
