NEWS CENTER - Stating that the attack on the Sînûnê People's Council was carried out in cooperation with the KDP, Journalist Rojbin Denîz said: "The KDP is trying to punish the Yazidis by the hand of Turkey."

The systematic attacks against Yazidis continue since the "Shengal Agreement" signed between Baghdad and Hewler on October 9, 2020. While Turkey is constantly carrying out airstrikes, the Iraqi army is invading the city. The KDP frequently targets the city. On June 15, the Sinunê People's Council building in Shengal was bombed by a Turkish drone, and 12-year-old Selah Xidir Naso and his grandfather Xidir Naso lost their lives.

Journalist Rojbin Deniz, who closely follows the developments in the region, evaluated the attacks on Shengal, the aims and objectives of Ankara, Hewler and Baghdad.

'YAZIDIS OVERCAME ALIENATION'

Stating that KDP is involved in every attack against Shengal, Journalist Deniz said: “Ottomans, who massacred the Yazidis, and then the Republic of Turkey, persued the Yazidis to Shengal. The KDP never left the Ottomans alone in their attempt for genocide against the Yazidis. The creators of the genocide, Turkey and the KDP, which played a key role, carried out a genocide against the Yazidi community at every opportunity. Each genocide attempt made the Yazidis more alienated and marginalised. The genocide they were subjected to in 2014 was way worse than every other massacre they were subjected to. The Yazidi community overcame the alienation that was imposed on them. Known as the root of Yazidis, Shengal wanted to be totally destroyed with 74 massacres. The Yazidî community, which was subjected to genocide turned its repeating fate into experience."

‘YAZIDIS LIVE FREELY’

Expressing that the Yazidis lived freely with the establishment of the Shengal Democratic Autonomous Administration, Deniz said: “Shengal recovered quickly after the massacre. People's councils were established on the needs of the Yazidis public order. Iraqi laws never protected the Yazidis. Not being represented in anyway in Iraq, Yazidis created their own solutions. The Yazidis knew that it would be a great mistake to rely on the KDP, whose history was full of betrayals, and the Iraqi state, which was too weak to embrace its people. The people's councils and the Yazidi public order were established in Shengal stood by the people with a common understanding. After the massacre, Yazidis ruled themselves for 8 years. They showed everyone that they can live their own culture, without being dependent on the KDP and the Iraqi state.”

'KDP PUNISHES THE YAZIDIS AND KURDS BY THE HAND OF TURKEY'

Expressing that Iraq and the KDP could not tolerate the democratic system built in Shengal and that's why they launched these attacks, Deniz said: "Turkey and the KDP stepped in against the Yazidî community's will to self-government. Recently, many leaders of the Yazidi community were targeted because of this. Merwan Bedel was targeted when he had his children with him. The attack on the Peoples' Council in Sinune and the market place were also a planned attacks.  12-year-old Saleh and the People's Council staff and 7 people, including a journalist, were injured in these attacks. It is the KDP that allows the targeting of the People's Council. KDP want Shengal to live under their oppression instead of them governing themselves. The Yazidi community, especially the women, don't want Peshmerge forces affiliated with the KDP in their lands. The KDP knows the people don't want them. This is why they are trying to punish the Yazidis and Kurds by the hand of Turkey."

TURKEY'S DREAMS TO EXPAND TO NATIONAL PACT BORDERS

Deniz continued as follows: "One reasons of Turkey's Kurdish-Yazidî hostility is Turkey's dream to expand its borders back to the National Pact borders. This pact fragments Syria, Iraq and threatens Iran's borders. Turkey's National Pact borders include KDP and PUK. It is a mystery what the Barzani family dreams of with a Kurdistan invaded by Turkish fascism. Aside from the imagination of the KDP and international powers, the first step that Turkey will take if it reaches its goal will be to eliminate the KDP."
