DİYARBAKIR - Mehmet Pervane from the Çavundur neighborhood of Lice stated that the soldiers that raided his house cut the picture of his daughter which was framed and hung on the wall.

 

 

One of the places where attacks on the cemeteries are intense, Çavundur district of Lice is often subjected to military raids. Soldiers raiding his house in May, cut the picture of her daughter, Halime Pervane (Viyan Licok), who died in an armed conflict with the soldiers.

 

Father Pervane said: "They came to our house. There was a picture on the wall of my daughter. They wanted to take the picture. I stood up to them. They threatened me with detention. I told them I was never going to allow them to take the picture of my daugter. Another soldier with a higher degree came. I told the same thing to him. So they took the frame off the wall, cut the flag behind my daughter with scissors including her name.

 

Pervane emphasizing that people must hold on to their values, said: "This period is worse than September 12. What happened back then in Diyarbakır prison, is happening in the streets, villages, everywhere. They conducted thousands of operations here since then. This is not their land and one day they will leave. That's why they are trying to survive through the dead of the Kurds. They are keeping watches on higher grounds through out the night. They attack the cemeteries in every operation."

 

Stating that her daughter died in 2012 and her grave stone was also vandalized, Pervane said: "She was one of the first to be buried in Sîsê Cemetery. First they carried out an air attack against the cemetery. They know that we will not forget them as long as their graves are here. This is the reason of their continued attacks.This is called fascism all around the world. We will never take a step back and we will protect the memory of our children.

 

Stating that they will apply to international institutions, especially the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), Pervane said: “We will do our best to bring this brutality to the agenda of the world. Our people will claim their values.​​”
