DİYARBAKIR - The attacks of the Turkish state targeting graves have been increased in recent months. This time the soldiers targeted six graves in Lice.
The graves are systematically targeted, demolished, and the families of the people whose graves are vandalized is being threatened.
A new attack has been added to the those on graves in Van, Diyarbakır, Hakkari, Muş and Şırnak.
After an attack on a cemetery in Yolçatı (Sîsê) in Lice, some graves were vandalized this time in Çavundur (Licok).
The grave of Izzet Tugal, who was murdered by JITEM members in 1995-96, was targeted. And it was not the only one. The grave of Bahattin Turfan, who died in the attack on Vedat Aydın's funeral on 10 July 1991, and the graves of PKK guerrillas Aydın Bedran and Inayet Tanriverdi who fells martyr during clashes in Lice and Muş in the 90s were also attacked. In addition, the graves of Hiyali Zengin and his son Mustafa Zengin, who were murdered by village guards in 1993, were also destroyed.
The perpetrators of this attack were reported to be Turkish soldiers operating in the region.
Eyewitnesses stated that the soldiers who participated in the military operation launched in the region on 4 June are responsible for the destruction of the graves. It was reported that Turkish soldiers kicked the stones.
