İSTANBUL - The prisoner was taken to the hospital in the prison complex by use of force.
28 years old prisoner Mustafa Koçak was sentenced to life imprisonment based on contradictory statements of an informant. Koçak went on a hunger strike demanding a fair trial and turned his protest on the 90th day into death fast which is on day 255.
Sister of Mustafa, Mine Koçak said that her brother, jailed in Şakran Prison in İzmir, was forcibly taken to the hospital in the prison complex and he was given serum.
Mine Koçak said that her brother was forcibly taken under treatment although he was conscious, saying: “What we know is that today his ward was raided and he was taken to the hospital in the prison complex by use of force. He removed the serum given to him. We do not know what situation he is in at the moment. Lawyers have left for the prison and we will go there soon.”
The statement made from the Peoples' Law Office (HHB) social media account included the following statements:
“We received the information that our client, Mustafa Kocak, who has been on the fast of death for 255 days, was taken from his cell at 16.00 yesterday, and was taken to the Şakran Campus hospital outside his will.
Doctors forbade our client to be contacted with a lawyer because of the high risk of infection. Therefore, we can obtain very limited information.
We received the information that a forced medical intervention was imposed on our client Mustafa Koçak . We are concerned about the health of our client. Forced medical intervention during long death fasts is crippling! Forced medical intervention is torture! Torture is a crime against humanity!
Our client, who was taken to the hospital with the claim that the death fast is life-threatening, he should be transferred to the forensic institution and released immediately. The applications we made in this regard have not been responded. Our client, Mustafa Koçak, must be transferred to the forensic medicine institution and released immediately!
