İZMİR - According to Humans' Rights Association, there are 193 sick prisoners in Aegean prisons.  Lawyer Zafer İncin, the head of the branch, stressed that the Ministry of Justice had left the sick prisoners to death and demanded the release of the prisoners.

 

According to the data of the Ministry of Justice, November 20, 2018, there are 260,144 people in prisons, 202,443 of them are convicted and 57,710 are jailed pending trial. While a new one is added to the allegations of oppression, assault and torture in prisons everyday, the situation of sick prisoners are getting worse. Despite many attempts, sick prisoners who are not released either die inside or are released a few days before death. Finally, while living in Kazan (Tiyar) village of Çukurca district of Hakkari, Tahir Çetinkaya was detained for 8 months on charges of "helping and abetting the organization Ankara. He died at the hospital.

 

The Human Rights Association (IHD) Prison Commission's report on January 9th includes a total of 334 political patients detained in prisons, including 458 in critical condition that has a Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) report stating they are unfit to stay in prison.

 

Lawyer Zafer İncin, President of the Human Rights Association (IHD) Branch President, recalling that the HRA Headquarters recently released the reports on prisoners and said that they were constantly calling the Ministry of Justice and the government. Stating that the government has left sick prisoners to death, Incin said that they are conducting studies for the release or treatment of sick prisoners. Stating that the Forensic Medicine Institution should not act biased, Incin demanded that the prisoners be released as soon as possible.
