SİİRT- Kudret Aşkara whose 2 children out of 4 is on hunger strike in prison, stating that this resistance will not be left half finished, called on to the public to be the voice of the hunger strikers.
The hunger strike Democratic Society Congress (DTK) Co-chair Leyla Güven started in Diyarbakır Type E Closed Prison on November 8, with the demand of the termination of the isolation on PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan have left behind 126 days. Abdurrahim Çetinkaya (39) who was sentenced to 25 years of jail time for 'Disrupting the unity of the state and keeping weapons' is in prison for 13 years now. He is on a hunger strike since February 15 in Şakran No 3 Prison. His brother Mehmet Aşkara (29)is being kept at Balıkesir Kepsut Type L Prison for 3 years now, with the charge of 'being a member of an illegal organization and managing that organization'.Mehmet Aşkara is on hunger strike since January 18.
Mother Aşkara who reminded that the prisoners are not on a hunger strike for their own sake, said they are on a hunger strike for their cause. Mother Aşkara made a call and said: "Get out on the streets. Be the voice of those who are on hunger stike behind bars. New ones will come into their places if they fall. 4 will come if one falls. 4 falls and thousands will follow. This resistance will not be left half finished.Everyone should claim the cause of their children on hunger strike and their people."
