NEWS CENTRE - Stating that their forces continue to resist in Kurdish neighbouthoods in Aleppo, QSD General Commander Mazlum Abdi said their first priority is to protect the people.
While the clashes in Northwest Syria are rapidly escalating with the attacks of the paramilitary structures supported by Turkey, Mazlum Abdi, General Commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (QSD), made a statement on the crisis.
Mazlum Abdi stated that their forces are subjected to intense attacks from multiple directions and that they are trying to open a humanitarian corridor to protect the people after the collapse of the Syrian army and its allies.
"Our forces heroically defended oru people in Aleppo, Tal Rifaat and Shahba. However, the attacks of armed groups supported by the Turkish occupation cut the humanitarian corridor we wanted to create between our eastern areas and these areas," Mazlum Abdi said.
Mazlum Abdi stated that they are trying to communicate with all active parties in Syria to ensure the safety of the people and move them from Tal Rifaat and Shahba to safe areas in the northeast of the country.
URGENT STEPS MUST BE TAKEN
Stating that their forces continue to resist in Kurdish neighbourhoods in Aleppo, Mazlum Abdi said: "Protecting our people is our firs priority. We will not leave our people alone in this difficult process." Mazlum Abdi called for more support from the international community and emphasised urgent steps must be taken to ensure the security of the people.
