AMED - Turkey is working with jihadist gangs to destroy the Kurds said DEM Party Amed MP Adalet Kaya and added: "The solution and the interlocutor are clear. End the isolation and start negotiations with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan."

Peoples's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) Amed (Diyarbakır) Provincial Organisation made a statement in front of AZC Plaza against the detentions, arrests and appointment of turstees to munisipalities. Co-mayors of metropolitan and district municipalities, DEM Party MP Adalet Kaya, representatives of non-govermental organisations and many citizens attended the statement. Carrying the banner "No to detentions, arrests, trustees, yes to peace with dignity".

POLICE EFFORTS TO PREVENT

While Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Provincial Co-Chair Mehmet Şirin Gürbüz was speaking, the police announced that they would take action against the participants for "Violation of Law No. 2911 on Demonstrations and Meetings". Gürbüz reacted to the police announcement and said: "You can take action, you can do something else, but this has no place in the law".

'LET US MEET WITH ABDULLAH ÖCALAN'

Pointing to the detention and arrest operations, DEM Party Amed Provincial Co-chair Gülşen Özer said: "If a truly democratic republic is to be built, all peoples should live together with their identity, language and colour. If we want a real peace, we need to meet with Mr. Abdullah Öcalan."

Labour and Democracy Platform term spokeperson Faruk Budak reminded that his fellow union members were detained and arrested and said: "The reasons for their arrest are their union activities and the press statements they attended. We demand the immediate release of our friends. Although the allegations were dismissed, our friends were arrested with secret witnesses, we will continue to resist."

‘A 100-YEAR PROCESS’

Drawing attention to the ongoing developments in the Middle East, Amed Metropolitan Municipality Co-mayor Doğan Hatun stated the following: "This historical process is a 100-year process. It did not emerge all at once. 100 years of destruction, ungranted rights, occupied lands. The truth began to come to light. The truth has imposed itself and the result will be peace, brotherhood and free lands for all oppressed peoples. This is a 100-year opportunity. Everyone will either risk extinction or everyone will decide to live together in an equal, just and honourable way. Our demand is to live together as brothers and sisters in an equal, honourable and just manner.’

‘THIS PEOPLE WILL NOT GIVE UP’

Criticising the trustee appointments, ‘Acting against the constitution, against the law is only and only usurpation itself. It is usurping the will of the people. You will need this feeling tomorrow. The methods you apply tomorrow will be applied to you one by one. Let me describe a trustee in one sentence. The trustees are thieves who would covet the fireproof clothes of a firefighter. Where is politics in this? What is a thief, liar and scoundrel who covets a firefighter's fireproof suit? Come to the courtrooms. The trustee before us coveted a firefighter's fireproof suit. What can such a thief promise to this city? We will not allow these thieves, liars and scoundrels. We will not allow it under any circumstances,’ he said.

‘MEET WITH MR ABDULLAH ÖCALAN’

Evaluating the ongoing operations as ‘the continuation of the Kurdish genocide’, DEM Party Amed MP Adalet Kaya said: "We wake up every day with political genocide operations or trustees to another municipality. Labourers, women and peoples all over Turkey are disturbed by your fascist policies and do not want you. The people buried the AKP-MHP goverment in the ballot boc. Let us say that those who do not think like you, who struggle for labour and women, who struggle for freedom and equality, will not submit to you. We did not and will not bow down to you. Our friends who were taken with political genocide did not commit a crime. Their only offence is that they are Kurds and do not think like the government. The judgement stick you are waving over the mayors will turn on you one day. On the one hand, while the solution discussions continue, you ignore the Kurdish people's constitutional right to vote and be elected. We do not accept this. This land is ours and we are equal citizens of this country. We will not give our elected rights to your thieving trustees. You impose an economic embargo on our municipalities. You do not want the municipalities to do business like the trustees who left the municipalities in debt. In order to prevent this people from receiving services that they will feel valuable, you are making up trumped up offences against the co-mayors and dismissing them, while at the same time you are not making the municipalities work. You say to all the opposition, ‘Come and stand against the right to vote and be elected. This country is being ignored every day by those who do not recognise the constitution and law. Let's make a new law immediately so that these peoples can live equally and freely in democracy like human beings. Turkey is working with jihadist gangs inside and outside to destroy Kurds. End this now. The solution is clear. The will of the Kurdish people is clear. We want honourable peace and the interlocutor is clear. Immediately end the isolation and start negotiations with Mr Abdullah Öcalan’.

‘BOTH THE SOLUTION AND THE INTERLOCUTOR ARE CLEAR’

Stating that the murders of women, children and trustee appointments are the result of the policy of war and the lack of solution, ‘In the face of this, we say that both the solution and the interlocutor are clear. Isolation continues on women, peoples and youth in the Middle East. We will not allow the hope of this people to be ignored again. The solution is clear, it is in İmralı, start negotiations immediately,’ Adalet Kaya said.

The statement ended with slogans.
