KIRŞEHİR - Prisoners in Kırşehir Prison announced that they have started a rotating hunger strike against rights violations.
Necdet Öztürk, who is being held in Kırşehir High Security Prison, told his family living in Dîlok (Gaziantep) about the rights violations they are experiencing in prison during their weekly phone call. Öztürk stated that prisoners are not brought together and are not allowed to go to the workshop together, and said that they are struggling against the violations. Stating that they started a 3-day rotating hunger strike against rights violations, Öztürk said: “Our actions will continue until our demands are met. Right now we are 3 friends side by side, but they have put each of our friends in a corner. We can barely hear each other's voices. On Monday, when we started the protest, they wanted to take us out of the cell by force. They cannot attack us now because of public pressure. Lawyers and members of parliament also came here recently and we explained the situation to them.”
