ÎDIR - The release of Ataş Göbe, a 30-year prisoner in Bolu Type F Prison, was prevented for the second time because he refused to accept the “remorse” imposition.
As the Prison Administrative and Observation Board (İGK) came into effect in 2021 and the execution periods of political prisoners continue to be blocked or burned, the release of Ataş Göbe, a 30-year prisoner in Bolu Type F High Security Prison, was postponed for the second time.
Sentenced to 30 years in prison by the State Security Court for “disrupting the unity and integrity of the state”, Göbe completed his 30-year sentence on June 2. However, Göbe's release was postponed for 3 months by the Prison Administrative and Observation Board on the grounds that Göbe was not in good behavior because he refused to accept the “remorse” imposition. Göbe's release, which was expected today after completing the postponement period, was once again blocked by the İGK for another 3 months.
In his weekly phone call with his family, Göbe stated that his release was blocked for 3 months because he refused to accept the “remorse” imposition. Göbe also informed the family that he and 26 other prisoners were arbitrarily and unlawfully prevented from being released.
