ŞIRNEX/ÊLIH - Cizîr Municipality has removed the "Pêşî Peya" warning signs on pedestrian crossings. Êlih Municipality stated that the ministry and governorship contradicted their own instructions.
Following the instructions of the Ministry of Interior, the "Pêşî Peya (Pedestrian First)" warning signs on pedestrian crossings in Cizre (Cizre) district of Şirnex (Şırnak) were removed. It is learned that the municipality will replace the removed signs with new ones.
STATEMENT BY ÊLIH MUNICIPALITY
Êlih (Batman) Municipality made a written statement regarding the removal of Kurdish traffic warning signs in the city. It was stated that "Pêşî Peya", the Kurdish equivalent of "Pedestrian First" warning signs to ensure pedestrian safety on city roads in the municipalities' area of responsibility, continued to be removed by highway teams under the supervision of police officers.
The statement said that the Ministry contradicts its own decisions and reminded that there is no legal obstacle to writing in Kurdish.
