MÊRDÎN - Kerboran Municipality made a statement on the removal of the Kurdish warning signs and said: “We strongly condemn this great evil.”
In Mêrdîn's (Mardin) Kerboran (Dargeçit) district, “Peşî Peya (Pedestrian First)” warning signs on pedestrian roads were erased by the General Directorate of Highways teams accompanied by the police last night. Kerboran Co-Mayors Asya Gezer and Aziz Ramazan Akın made a written statement on the issue.
The statement read as follows: “We strongly condemn the attack on the Kurdish language. As Kerboran Municipality, the 'Pêşî Peya (Pedestrian First)' warnings we wrote in Kurdish to prevent accidents in Kerboran were subjected to racist attacks. As Co-Mayors, we strongly condemn this great evil. In line with the request of our people, we will speak Kurdish in our municipality, shops, bazaars, homes, parks, streets and neighborhoods, inside and outside Kerboran, in our villages. We promised to work for Kerboran.”
