ANKARA - The first five articles of a bill that paves the way for the killing of stray dogs have been approved by AKP-MHP votes in Parliament.
The first five articles of the 17-article “Bill on Amendments to the Law on the Protection of Animals”, which includes regulations on stray animals and has caused public outcry, were adopted in the Parliament's General Assembly. The controversial Article 5, adopted in the 14th hour of negotiations, paves the way for the killing of stray dogs.
NEGOTIATIONS WILL CONTINUE
While the opposition's motions to remove Article 5 from the proposal were rejected, negotiations on the proposal will continue today.
