ANKARA - Rıdvan Barık, a judicial prisoner in Erzurum Dumlu Prison No. 2, says he is constantly threatened with death by guards.
Rıdvan Barık, who was arrested for the murder of Fayat Toy, a guard at K1-Type Closed Prison in Hatay's Samandağ district on January 15, 2014, said he has been threatened with death in Erzurum Dumlu High Security Prison No. 2. Barık stated that execution officers threatened him with death during a phone call with his family on July 9.
'WRITE A SUICIDE LETTER TOO'
Barık said: "The execution officers threatened me. They said, 'Your accomplices committed suicide, write a suicide letter and commit suicide. Let's not get blood on our hands."
In his letter Barık told the situation: "I am struggling to survive here. Two other people who were on trial in the same case with me died suspiciously in prison, but they said they committed suicide. One of the people they said committed suicide was reported as 'psychologically disturbed, that's why he committed suicide'. I have no security of life here. 'We will destroy you like the others and make it look like suicide. We will kill you for killing a guard' Guards says to me. I didn't kill the guard, but they say to me, 'You are an accomplice'. They are constantly beating and torturing me. There is no time anymore and this is no joke. One of the two people on trial from the same case as me was killed in Diyarbakır Prison No. 1 and the other in Elazığ. The execution officers here have been threatening me for a week."
