ISTANBUL- Women in Europe sent 1,300 letters to the CPT within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign.

The activity of sending a letter to the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT), initiated by the European Kurdish Women's Movement (TJK-E) in Switzerland within the scope of the "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan, democratic solution to the Kurdish issue" campaign, continues. In this context, women's councils, which continue their work under the umbrella of the Swiss Kurdish Women's Union (YJK-S), have gathered in the cities of Lausanne, Sion, Zurich, Geneva and Aarau since the beginning of the week and sent thousands of letters to the CPT.

CPT MUST FULFILL ITS MAIN RESPONSIBILITY

Within the scope of the campaign, YJK-S's stop today was the city of Basel. Members of the Ronahî Women's Council gathered in front of the Claraplatz Post Office and made a statement. Making a statement on behalf of the crowd, Necla Kılıç said that the Kurds and their supporters are carrying out various campaigns for the CPT to fulfill its resposibility. Kılıç continued her words as follows: "As Kurdistanis living in Basel, we would like to remind the CPT of its responsibilities while sending a letter to the CPT today within the framework of the ongoing campaign. Today, there is an inhumane practice being carried out against our Leader. The CPT, which must fulfill its primary responsibility against this practice, which is a continuation of the international conspiracy against our Leader launched in 1998, continues its silence today as it did yesterday. We would like to remind you once again that we do not accept the CPT's attitude towards isolation. As Kurdish women, we will continue our actions in every field until our leader is free."

Following the statement, 1,300 signed letters to be sent to the CPT were delivered to the post office.
