ŞIRNEX - While the prisoners continued to boycott phone calls and family meetings, demanding "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan", the mothers of the prisoners said: "Their demands are our demands. Their demands must be supported."

Political prisoners took their hunger strike, which they started on November 27, 2023, demanding "Freedom for Abdullah Öcalan and a solution to the Kurdish issue" to a different phase on April 4. Prisoners have been boycotting the courts since April 4 and not to make phone calls or meet with their families. Relatives of prisoners are organizing various protests and events in many cities with similar demands.

'OUR EYES ON PRISONS'

Zin Beyar, mother of Yaşar Beyar, a prisoner in Giresun Espiye Type L Prison, stated that her children's demands must be met as soon as possible. Beyar said: “We are in prison just like our children. My son has 5 children. I haven't heard my son's voice for 2 months. We want our children's demands to be heard. We want peace and solution. Their demands are our demands. Our eyes are on the prisons. Kurds must unite, embrace this action and make their demands known everywhere."

HE IS IN ACTION EVEN IF HE IS SERIOUSLY ILL

Rismiye Acar, mother of seriously ill prisoner Tenzile Acar in Istanbul Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison, said that her children "sacrificed herself for peace" under harsh conditions. Stating that they are waiting for news from their children, Acar said: "We do not want the bodies of our children to come from prisons. There are three prisoners from my family. Which one should I wonder about? My daughter started taking action for peace and solution even though she is ill. We want this oppression to end and their demands to be met."

'EVERYONE MUST EMBRACE THE ACTION'

Ayşe İlhan, mother of prisoner Reşit İlhan in Erzurum Type H High Security Prison, pointed out that her son is held in a single cell and said that they had not heard from him since the protest started. "These are happening to us because we are Kurds. Every person with a conscience needs to hear these demands and embrace the action. We stand behind the demands of our children" Mother İlhan said.

'THEIR DEMANDS ARE OUR DEMANDS'

Şirin Demir, mother of Celadet Demir, who is a prisoner in Elazığ Type T Closed Prison, said: “Our children have been protesting for all humanity for months. We don't know if they are ill or hungry. Mr. Öcalan is also under absolute isolation. There is a heavy war all around. We want peace. All mothers must join hands and support these demands. Our bodies outside, but our hearts in prisons. We think about our children day and night."

Bedriye İnedi, the mother of Celal İnedi, who is held in Afyonkarahisar No. 1 Type T Closed Prison, said: "Our children are under oppression in prisons. We have not received any news since April. Unless the isolation on Mr. Öcalan in Imrali ends, we will all be in this situation."
