AMED - It was stated that 6 prisoners in Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 2 were beaten for "greeting" another prisoner.
It was stated that 6 prisoners in Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 2 were attacked by approximately 50 guards and the first and second warden of the prison on the grounds that they greeted the prisoners in the other ward after a public meeting with their families on January 15. Among the prisoners attacked were Hüseyin Karahan, Ramazan Yılmaz, Burhan Taş and Xemgin Eleftos.
In his meeting with his brother Hüseyin Karahan, who was attacked, Mustafa Karahan said that his brother said to him: "After the open visit was over, while returning to the wards, Burhan greeted a friend staying in another ward. After that, the guards attacked. The first and second warden of the prison also participated in this attack. It was a planned attack.”
'UNACCEPTABLE'
Reacting to the attack, Mustafa Karahan said that such attacks are unacceptable and said: “They are already on hunger strike right now. Many of their rights are being taken away. They are already between four walls. There must be sensitivity.”
