Salih Muslim: Attacks will not achieve their purpose

RIHA - Stating that Turkey wants to depopulate Northern and Eastern Syria with attacks, PYD CoChair Salih Muslim said: "We have no other way but to resist. The attacks will never achieve their purpose."
 
Turkey once again targeted the cities of Northern and Eastern Syria following the increase in troop losses in the conflicts in the Federated Kurdistan Region. Many oil, electricity and water facilities were bombed in Tirbêspiyê, Dêrik and Kobanê. Evaluating the attacks, Democratic Union Party (PYD) Co-chairman Salih Muslim noted that Turkey's attacks are not new and have been continuing uninterruptedly for 8 years.
 
'WE FACE AN INHUMANE WAR'
 
Muslim said: "Attacks are nothing new. Continuing where ISIS left off, Turkey increases the dose of attacks whenever it finds the opportunity. Wherever something negative happens to them, it turns its direction to Northern and Eastern Syria. The latest attacks took place in this context. After what happened in Bashur (Federated Kurdistan Region), they are attacking like 'starved wolves' to calm the reactions against them. Civilian settlements are targeted in the attacks. These attacks negatively affect daily life. The aim is to dehumanize the region. They kill those they can kill with their weapons, and they want to kill those they cannot by starving them. In this context, we are faced with an inhumane war."
 
'THE PUBLIC HAVE PRECAUTIONS'
 
Stating that 2 million 150 thousand people have been left without electricity due to Turkey's attacks that have been continuing since October 4, Müslim said: "The attacks carried out today are the third attacks against the infrastructure. Oil, water facilities and hospitals were targeted before. Autonomous Administration' They want to destroy the infrastructure of the country. They want to destroy the people's hope for a new life. We are in the winter months. Turkey is attacking, and the Syrian regime is backing the attacks by imposing an embargo. The people who took refuge from Afrin to Shehba are targeted and they want to be removed from the camps where they are currently staying. The people's struggle against this. The people find solutions against all kinds of attacks and strengthen their own organization. The people have measures against Turkey's attacks."
 
'SILENCE IS APPROVAL'
 
Drawing attention that the attacks on Northern and Eastern Syria affect all the people of the region, Muslim said: "ISIS attacked and failed. They want to achieve what ISIS could not achieve. We cannot say that ISIS is over. This is not true. ISIS still exists. When Turkey's attacks increase, ISIS is also growing again. The growth of ISIS is a threat not only to the people of Rojava, but to the whole world. Attacks are being carried out to prevent the SDF from fighting ISIS. Time is being created with the attacks for ISIS to become stronger. The world must stand up against this. The world must see this. Silence is approval.”
 
'WE WILL RESIST TILL THE END'
 
Emphasizing that they will resist the attacks, Muslim said: "We are resisting and giving martyrs every day. Our struggle will continue until the end for the Kurdish people to live honorably. We have no other way but to resist. The people trust their fighters and resist together with them. The attacks will never achieve their purpose."
