ÊLIH - Salman Yıldız, who is 68 percent disabled and has epilepsy and is held in Muğla Type M Prison, stated that he was held in a solitary cell.

Salman Yıldız, who was injured in the city of Kobanê in Northern and Eastern Syria, where he went for solidarity following the attacks of ISIS and remained 68 percent disabled, was arrested and injured after 3 months of treatment in Riha. Yıldız, who was sent to Batman Type M Prison and released after 1 year, was sentenced to 7 years and 3 months in prison on the allegation of "being a member of a terrorist organization" in the trials held at the Batman 2nd High Criminal Court. Yıldız, whose treatment continues, was detained in Muğla on February 5, 2022, and was arrested by the court on the grounds of "suspicion of escape" and put in Muğla Type E Prison.

Prisoner Yıldız, who suffered a head injury due to a blow to the head in Kobanê, had difficulty walking and holding due to loss of strength in her left arm and leg, and had epilepsy that would prevent her daily activities, was put in a single cell. Yıldız, who was sent to Menemen Type T Closed Prison for treatment, was taken again to Muğla Type E Closed Prison on October 29. Yıldız, who called his family from the prison said that he was put in a solitary cell.

'THERE IS NO DESCRIPTION FOR THIS OPPRESSION'

Stating that her child was dragged to death, Mother Saliha Yıldız (53) said: “He is unable to survive on his own. He has epilepsy. For an epilepsy patient to be left alone means death. Someone needs to be with him when he has a seizure. There is a danger that your tongue will get stuck in your throat and you will be left breathless. Someone needs to be with him to prevent him from getting out of breath. While we were waiting for treatment, he was thrown into solitary confinement. This is cruelty, there is no way to describe it. They are doing everything they can to not give us our children alive.”

CALL FOR PUBLIC AWARENESS

Stating that her son had been in bad conditions for nearly 2 years due to "suspicion of escape", mother Yıldız said: "They transferred him to prison while his treatment was continuing. She was not treated in prison. Those who committed such great crimes are being released one by one. Or he is being tried without detention; however, they transferred my son, who was unable to care for himself, to prison. They were not satisfied with that and put him in a solitary cell."

Calling for public awareness, mother Yıldız asked for the unlawfulness to end.
