IZMIR - Journalist Cahit Mervan, who likened the situation in the Middle East to a "dark tunnel" and said: "At the end of the tunnel, there is both extinction and gaining freedom. The Israel-Palestine issue can be solved based on the model in Northern and Eastern Syria."

The bombardment and clashes, which started after Hamas launched an attack against Israel from the Gaza Strip under the name "Aqsa Flood" on October 7, continue uninterruptedly. According to yesterday's statement by the Gaza Ministry of Health, at least 5,087 Palestinians, including 2,055 children, lost their lives in Israeli attacks. On the Israeli side, 1,400 people, including 308 soldiers, lost their lives. Journalist Cahit Mervan evaluated the war and its effects on the Middle East geography.

QUESTIONS

Stating that the war environment closely concerns the Kurds, Mervan said:"The reason for this is due to the geopolitical location of Kurdistan geography in the Middle East. The consequences of the war will affect the entire geography. The roles of the states that hold Kurdistan in colonial status in these attacks are important. Will this war extend to Lebanon and Yemen? Will there be a military operation? Will Turkey openly intervene in the war?"

Emphasizing that the Kurds should follow the developments closely and develop medium and long-term policies according to the developments, Mervan said: "The Israel-Hamas war may be a romantic story for some people but in the real field, the Kurds have vital problems. The Kurds are opening up space to determine their own future, and on the other hand, there are very serious attacks on these areas. The resulting chaos environment carries vital problems for the Kurds. During the chaos, the Kurds must be prepared for the position of the colonial powers and the dust and smoke that will arise."

WHO BENEFITS A CHAOS?

Stating that the chaotic environment did not only benefit the ruling powers, Mervan said: "Many countries gained their independence and freedom after the world wars and the October Revolution. The Arab Spring and the chaos that followed led to the birth of Rojava. Rojava is a place that inspires all rights. An island of freedom has been created. If you are economically, politically, militarily and socially prepared and have the will, the chaos environment can also provide freedom. If the right position is taken, the right results will be achieved because not only the oppressed are affected by chaos. The powerful are also affected. Today, Palestine is at the top of the states that are in a deadlock. Iran and Turkey, which are among the countries that instrumentalize the situation, are also coming. Turkey attacks Rojava every day. When these attacks are inconclusive or frustrated, this period of chaos may bring different results."

THE PARADIGM OF ABDULLAH ÖCALAN

Emphasizing the importance of the new life model that sprouted in Northern and Eastern Syria based on the ideas of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan, Mervan said: "This paradigm is a solution model that can be taken as an example for Israel-Palestine and other problems. It is very difficult to create such an island of freedom in an area like Rojava, where multinationals and different faith groups live. This is closely related to the paradigm of Mr. Abdullah Öcalan. In Rojava, Kurds are fighting not only for themselves, but for all peoples. Enlightenment for women. It opens a future. In this respect, the solution is not nationalism and sectarianism."

Stating the place where the Kurds stand is on the side of the freedom of the people, Mervan continued: "However, we live in a world where wars do not end, colonialists set up new murder tables, and genocides occur. The Kurdish freedom movement, other dynamics and people with different beliefs should know this; They are going through a very dangerous tunnel. At the end of this tunnel, there is extinction, gaining freedom and determining one's own future. For this reason, everyone living in the Kurdistan geography needs to form unity."
