AMED - 8 applications were made to the İHD in one day regarding the rights violations against prisoners in Diyarbakır No. 2 High Security Prison.
Diyarbakır High Security Prison No. 2 is on the agenda with rights violations. In one day, 8 relatives of prisoners applied to the Amed(Diyarbakır) Branch of the Human Rights Association (IHD) regarding rights violations, following their open meeting in prison.
HUNGER STRIKE
One of the applicants, Hanım Eleftos, stated that they were constantly pressured by the guards during her open meeting with her imprisoned husband, Xemgin Eleftos. Eleftos said: “We are not allowed to greet other prisoners who are on Vision Island. Prisoners are not allowed to benefit from social activities such as painting or playing instruments. Ill prisoners are not treated properly. They are not taken out enough to take in the air. Canteen prices are very high, meals do not meet vitamin needs. They stated that they would start a hunger strike if the pressures did not end."
Eleftos stated that the increase in pressure was related to the isolation of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan and called for public awareness.
'EXAMINATION IS IMPOSED IN HANDCUFFS'
Stating that her son, who has been arrested for 10 years, has a heart disease, Prisoner Sabri Yılmaz's mother, Sabriye Yılmaz said: "My son Yılmaz also has kidney disease and needs regular treatment. He should go to the hospital every month, but he is taken every 3-4 months. Although he has a report for 6 medications that he should use, he is given 4 medications. Equivalents of those drugs are also given, but the drugs are not given on time. They are forced to be examined in handcuffs while being taken to the hospital and during treatment."
Stating that the wards where the prisoners are held are constantly raided and the books of the prisoners are confiscated, Yılmaz said: “When we take clothes, they are not given with the excuse of color. We are subjected to strip searches during the meeting. They serve food for one person to 3 people. The food given to the prisoners is not hygienic, and the prisoners are not given enough clean water."
Stating that they applied to the IHD against the pressures, Yılmaz said: “The pressures on the prisoners should end. Ill prisoners should be treated. I call on everyone to unite around the prisoners and protect them."
