URFA - In the preliminary autopsy report of Muharrem Aksem, who was found dead in an area where the police was target practicing, it was stated that 12 metal pieces were removed from his body and he did not have his right hand.

The preliminary autopsy report of 16-year-old Muharrem Aksem, who was found dead on 24 March in Eyyübiye district of Urfa, in the area where the special operations police were practicing, was delivered to the family lawyers.

According to the preliminary autopsy report prepared on Aksem's death; It was stated that Aksem did not have a right hand, and that he had many open scars on his face and body. According to the report; 12 metal objects in different sizes were removed from Aksem's body.

Family lawyer Hatice Akıllı Öz said that there was no evaluation of Aksem's exact cause of death in the preliminary autopsy report. Öz stated that they are waiting for the autopsy report to be issued by the Istanbul Forensic Medicine Institute (ATK) Specialization Department in order to determine the exact cause of death. Noting that Aksem did not have a right hand in the autopsy report, Öz said, "When we went to the scene, he did not have a right hand. 12 metal objects were removed from his body, but it is too early to tell what they are. A ballistic examination will be carried out to determine what the objects are. We are waiting for the final report from Istanbul."

Stating that there is no information about the exact time of death in the preliminary autopsy report, Öz said, “Urfa Governor's Office made a statement and said that the area has been a training ground since 2005. However, people living in the neighborhood state that target practice has been carried out for the last 2 years. Neighborhood residents informed that heavy weapons were used during target practice. It is also stated that bombs were used."

Emphasizing that the area used as a shooting range is not in compliance with the legislation, Öz said, “It is definitely against the legislation. There is no informative sign that it is a training ground, no protective measuresare taken. No information was given to the public that the area was a training ground. There are no security measures. This neglect should not be ignored. It is obvious that there is a great negligence."
