URFA - Şenyaşar family who has been staging a sit in in front of the Urfa Coourthouse for 217 days said: "Justice requires responsibility and conscience."

Emine Şenyaşar had lost her husband and two sons as the result of the attack carried out by AKP MP Halil İbrahim Yıldız, his guards, and relatives on 14 June 2018 in the Suruç district of Urfa.  She and her son who survived the attack injured had started a sit-in on 9 March. The sit-in is on its 217th day today. The family continues the sit in without their banners since the banners were confiscated by the police on day 200.

Underlining that the sit in is on its 217th day despite the police trying to prevent it from day one, Ferit Şenyaşar said: "Our struggle for justice left behind 7 months. A massacre has taken place in Suruç State Hopsital before the eyes of the world. The person who organized this massacre is a member of the ruling AKP. 3 people from our family was killed in that attack. It's been 3 and a half years and no one was arrested for this crime against humanity. The prosecutors are committing a crime protecting AKP MP İbrahim Halil Yıldız who organized this attack. The Minister of Justice says Courhouses are gates to justice. We invite him to Urfa to see how that justice looks like."

'THEY ARE WAITING FOR US TO DIE'

Underlining the fact that his mother Emine Şenyaşar is getting more and more sick day by day, Ferit Şenyaşar said: "My mother is 65 years old. Winter is coming. She can't handle this persecution any longer. We are right in our struggle for justice. We will not leave this place before justice is served. There is a saying. Justice that comes too late is not justice. We just want justice to be provided."

'JUSTICE REQUIRES ETHICS'

The family shared the following from their Twitter account: "Although the law is a tool for justice, we cannot always expect justice from it. Because justice; requires morality, responsibility, conscience and virtue. Without these, all that left for the authorities is persecution. Just like its happening in Şanlıurfa Courhouse."
