Tens of thousands of people flocks to Newroz Park for the celebration held in Diyarbakır with the slogan "Let's resist with the Newroz fire, let's liberate ourselves". Since the trustees did not increase the number of buses to the area, citizens are trying to reach Newroz Park with their own means from many points in the city. While the perimeter of the park was closed with barriers, thousands of police and armored vehicles were positioned inside and outside the park and on all roads and intersections leading to the park.

 

THOUSANDS ARE ON THE WAY TO THE PARK

 

Tens of thousands who set out from the morning in their national clothes enter the Newroz area with the HES code at the checkpoints established in the direction of Zümrüt Kent, Yenihal and Kayapınar. The journalists, who were kept waiting for hours at the protocol entrance on Evrim Alataş Street, were allowed to enter the area after 4 check points.

 

MASS MARCH FROM THE YOUNG PEOPLE

 

Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Youth Assembly members, who were the main target of the repression, marched towards the Newroz area from the Yenihal Junction where they came together en masse. Thousands of people from many parts of the city continue to flock to the Newroz area.

 

'NEWROZ PÎROZ BE' IN 8 LANGUAGES

 

In the Newroz Park, which hosts millions of people every year, a giant "Newroz be pîroz" was written on the platform in 8 languages. Banners written"Berxedanan jinên ciwan deng daye qaden azad", "Em li hemberî qirkirina jinê jiyane, azadiye diparezin", "Ruhê Newroz e iro li zindana li seranserî jiyanê zindî buye û gihiştiye wateya xwe ya dîroklarî" are hung in the park.

Those who entered the park carried banners, written 'Greetings to our sun, continue the fight' and 'Newroz is the soul of the resistance of Kawa against denial, war and exile."

 

POSTERS OF ÖCALAN

 

People were seen carrying posters of PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan being held in İmralı Type F High Security Prison and PKK flags. Thousands shout slogans like “Bijî Serok Apo” and “Bijî berxwedana zindanan”. The festivities started with the Cerxa Şoreşê march and a moment of silence.

rfan Söner, Chairman of the Newroz Organization Committee, celebrated the Newroz holiday of the Kurdish people in his opening speech. Söner said: “Dehak was defeated in the face of Kawa’s resistance and lit the Newroz fire. Peoples have been celebrating the Newroz holiday for 2633 years. Newroz pîroz be. Newroz, is resistance, Newroz is Serhildan, equality, justice and democracy. We celebrate the Newrox with the love of Mem û Zîn. We are here with our colours and our language."
