DİYARBAKIR - Scores of people were detained in the second operation carried out against MEBYA-DER 4 days after the first one including 81 year old Şehmus Türk. 

 

A second operation was carried out against Solidarity with Families Who Lost Relatives in the Cradle of Civilizations and Culture Association (MEBYA-DER). In the operation carried out on February 27, co-chairs, members and executives of the association were detained. Scores of people including 81 year old Şehmus Türk, Yıldız Damla, Ayşe Tutmaz, Halime Topuz and Sait Börta. 

 

Those detained were taken to the Diyarbakır Police Headquarters.

 

11 PEOPLE UNDER CUSTODY

 

11 people including MEBYA-DER Co-Chairs Şeyhmus Karadağ and Yüksel Almas, MEBYA-DER executives Zeki Dağ and Ayşe Çelikbilek, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Diyarbakır Provincial Executive Hatice Güneş, DBP Bağlar District Executive Tahrir Gül, Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Kayapınar District Co-Chair Hanım Altındağ, HDP Sur District former executive Murat Üzgün, HDP Diyarbakır former Provincial executive Hafiz Işık, MEYA-DER executive Muzaffer Ulaş are held in Diyarbakır Security Directorate for the last 4 days.

 

TWO WOMEN ARRESTED 

 

MEBYA-DER executive 79 year old Meryem Soylu and 71 year old Hatun Aslan who were detained the same day were arrested by the court yesterday for allagedly 'being a member of a terrorist organization'. Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Bağlar District manager Fetullah Işık was released under judicial control.
