DİYARBAKIR - 73 year old Faike Aktaş, mother of Veysi Aktaş who hasn't seen her son for the last 6 years in İmralı Prison demanded the isolation to be listed and said: "All I want is to see my son again before I die."

The hunger strike against violations of rights in prisons and the isolation in İmralı continues on its 68th day. Veysi Aktaş, Ömer Hayri Konar and Hamili Yıldırım being held in İmralı High Security Type F Closed Prison is not allowed to see their families and lawyers. All 45 applications of the families of Aktaş, Yıldırım and Konar are rejected since March 2, 2020. Their lawyers applied to the Bursa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office 145 times since August 7, 2019, but they were all rejected too.

Aktaş, who has been able to meet face-to-face with his family only on June 5, August 12, 2019 and March 2, 2020 since his transfer to Imrali, has only been able to use his right to phone calls on April 27 since his transfer to İmralı.

HER DYING WISH IS TO SEE HER SON

Aktaş's 73 year old mother told that the 'meaningless' isolation must be lifted and they should be able to see their loved ones. Mother Aktaş who hasn't seen her son in 6 years said: "I don't know whether or not he is alive. Our wish is that the isolation on Öcalan is lifted and peace to be established. Is there anything better than peace? My only wish is to see my son before I die."

'END THE UNLAWFULNESS'

Aktaş's sister Sabiha Aslan said: "Not seeing our loved ones cuts us to the bone. We missed his voice. We want to see my brother. At least we should be able to speak to him on the phone. We don't know if he recieves our letters. We are ten times more concerned with the pandemic."

'CPT DOES NOTHING'

Critisizing the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture (CPT) coming to Turkey but not visiting the İmralı Prison, Aslan said: "If the CPT has a duty in terms of rights and law, it hasn't fulfilled its duty in terms of the Kurds and İmralı. COT did nothing of substance. If CPT comes to Turkey, it must do its job."

'THIS BURDEN IS EVERYONE'S'

Underlining that the lifting of isolation is everybody's duty and responsibility, Aslan said: "The burden of the prisoners is already heavy. Everyone must share this burden and assume responsibility. The democracy forces in Turkey must raise their voices and take part in this struggle."
