MARDİN – While the perpetrators of 24 civilians who were killed during the curfew in Nusaybin haven't been found and prosecuted yet, their files have been shelved with 'permanent search warrants'. On the other hand, the prosecutor investigated the social media accounts of 24 civillians killed during the curfews for 5 years to find some ties to 'the organization'.
During the curfews that started on October 1, 2015 in Nusaybin district of Mardin and were declared 8 times in total, 25 civilians, including the sick, disabled and those who could not be hospitalized, lost their lives. While there are no developments on the investigations initiated on 24 of those who lost their lives, their files were shelved with 'permanent search warrants'.
The deaths of those who lost their lives as a result of the fire opened by the law enforcement units have been reflected to the reports of the human's rights organizations. Not a single law enforcement officer were called in for a deposition in the 5 years despite the calls of human's rights organizations.
In the report sent to the Nusaybin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office and then submitted to the Mardin Chief Public Prosecutor's Office based on the data collected by the Nusaybin District Police Department, it was revealed that, the prosecutor investigated those who were killed by the law enforcement officers, instead of investigating those who kill them. Then, in the summary, where the incidents that took place during the curfews were listed, the expressions of "armed intervention made in accordance with the procedure" were included for all the fires opened by the law enforcement officers.
FUNERALS WERE INVESTIGATED
Continuing with the narration of the events related to civilian casualties, the indictment included the funerals of the killed civilians. In the indictment, which included photographs of the funeral ceremonies, which were stated to be obtained through Facebook pages and local internet newspapers, it was stated that 'terrorist propaganda' was made during the funeral ceremonies with coffins covered with red, green and yellow flags.
