Health containers set up in the tent camp where 200 Syrian refugees live in Adanalıoğlu District in Mersin's Akdeniz district were removed. The containers set up with the cooperation of the Ministry of Industry and Technology, Mersin Governorship and Çukurova Development Agency were brought to the tent camp  to provide health services for the refugees with the Covid-19 outbreak.  In October, the number of the refugees increased to 200 with the arrival of new refugees in the tent camp where 120 Syrian refugees lived. It was understood that the mobile health containers were never opened  or given any health service of any kind during the pandemic. It was claimed that two of the containers were removed by the Mersin Governorate, saying that they didn't need it. The 2 containers with the bathroom, toilet and laundry room left in the tent camp are still locked. Syrian refugees living in the camp meet their needs by digging pits on the edges of their tents.

 

Emira Hasan (25), one of the Syrian refugees living in the camp, said that they have not received any health services from health containers yet. Expressing that no aid has been provided to their camps for 5 months, Hasan stated that health checks are not carried out due to the pandemic.

 

Mehmet Dizlek (41), on the other hand, stated that 4 containers were brought at the beginning of the pandemic but their doors were always locked. Dizlek said: "Then one day they removed the two containers saying that we don't need it. I called the Governor's Office, the person I spoke to said they brought the containers elsewhere, where they are needed. Now there are two containers that have bathrooms in it. They remain to be locked. We can not use them."
