MARDİN - An investigation was opened against our reporter Ahmet Kanbal, who reported the arrest of 9 people, including the 2nd Border Commander, for "bribery and migrant smuggling" in Nusaybin.

 

An investigation was opened against our reporter Ahmet Kanbal for reporting the arrests of Nusaybin 2nd Border Patrol Commander Infantry Major İlkay Floor, non-commissioned officers Nihat Muratoğlu, Gürkan Sinan and Aziz Çakı, and 9 people, including civilians on charges of "bribery and migrant smuggling" on September 15. 

 

It was stated that the investigation in question was initiated upon a complaint that came after our news. Kanbal was called by phone to Yenişehir Police Station and his statement was taken. Kanbal, who made a statement at the police station, reminded that his news is purely for informing the public and should be evaluated within the scope of freedom of the press. Stating that there was no element in the news that violated the confidentiality of the investigation, Kanbal denied the accusations.
