NEWS CENTER - Two Kurdish political prisoners in the Urmia Central Prison were executed on Tuesday.

 

Saber Sheikh (Şêxzade) Abdullah and Diako Rasoulzadeh, two Kurdish politicians, in Urmia Central Prison were executed by Iran regime at around 12:30 am on Tuesday, reports The Kurdistan Human Rights Network (KHRC). Iran Human Rights Organization has also announced that their bodies are still not handed back to their families. 

 

WHAT HAPPENED? 

 

Hossein Osmani and Diako Rasoulzadeh were arrested on 3 March 2014 while Saber Sheikh Abdullah was arrested 12 days later in Mahabad. They were later transferred to the Orumiyeh Intelligence Office detention centre, where they were tortured and forced to sign a confession relating to the September 2010 attack in Mahabad. On April 10, 2015, three Kurdish political prisoners were sentenced to death in Iran by the Mahabad Revolutionary Court, which recognized them as 'enemies of God', pointing out that the defendants were accused of an explosive attack and belonging to the Komala Party, a Kurdish political party banned in Iran. On April 7, Saber Sheikh Abdollah, Hossein Osmani and Diako Rasoulzadeh were summoned to an Urmia Prison for notification of their death sentences, issued by Mahabad Revolutionary Court. However, Hossein Osmani refused to sign the proclamation. The heavy torture sessions in the first three months of their imprisonment forced them to sign the confession and admit responsibility on a TV show. The Iranian channel Press TV broadcast the recorded confession of the three Kurdish politicla activists in August 2014.
