HDP MPs not allowed in prison 2020-04-30 15:27:51   İZMİR - HDP delegation wanting to vitist the Şakran Closed Prison, were prevented from entering the prison and their request for a meeting was rejected by the prison prosecutor and the prison administration.   Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) HDP Izmir Provincial Executives and MPs Serpil Kemalbay and Murat Çepni, and members of Ege TUHAY- DER (Association for solidarity with the families of prisoners and convicts) went to Şakran Closed Prison. The delegation demanded a meeting with the prison administration regarding the violations of rights in the prison.   The delegation was stopped  at the Highway Gendarmerie Command 1 kilometer before the entrance to Şakran Prison and requests to meet with the administration were rejected. The MPs protesting the situation, insisted on their demand to have a meeting with the prison administration. While the delegation could not meet with the prison prosecutor because he was not there at the time, the prison administration rejected to have a meeting.   Making a short statement in front of the prison, Serpil Kemalbay who emphasized that prisons are risky places with the coronavirus and that the new law on execution was actually an amnesty for the gang leaders and common criminals, said: "The Ministry of Justice and the government will be responsible for the coffins that will come out these prisons in the future." Stating that its a violation of law to send commanders out as interlocutors, Kemalbay said: "We see that we are facing an autocratic power with a government that violates the reputation of the Turkish Grand National Assembly."
