Koçak on death fast can no longer walk 2020-04-16 14:12:31 İZMİR - Hasan Koçak, father of Mustafa Koçak on death fast demanding fair trial for 289 days, said: "My son told me he can no longer walk on the phone the last time we spoke." Mustafa Koçak who has been on trial for the case of the killing of Public Prosecutor Mehmet Selim Kiraz while he was on duty in İstanbul Courthouse and sentenced to 2 counts of aggravated life in prison has been on a death fast for 287 days, demanding fair trail. Koçak, who is being held in Şakran No 2 Type T Closed Prison has turned the hunger strike into a death fast on his 93rd day. Koçak continues the death fast in  Kırıklar No 1 Type F Prison since March 12.   His sister Mine Koçak, Sinan Yanbal and Mahir Kılıç are on a one week hunger strike in solidarity with Koçak.The family whose both children are on hunger strike, reiterated their demand for justice.   Father Hasan Koçak who stated that they have been waiting in front of Kırıklar No 1 Type F Prison for 32 days to see their children, said they were able to speak to him on the phone on sunday. Koçak said: "My son told me he was no longer able to walk, that he forgot how to. He said he normally wears size 40 but now because of the swelling in his feet he wears size 46 shoes. He said he is losing his teeth and the pain is getting worse. We are very concerned as his family. He is not allowed to see his lawyers. The prison administration wants to take him to the hospital but because of his trauma from the last time, he refuses to go without his lawyers.   Father Koçak, making a call, said: "Please support my son. He is left in there with the statement of one confessor. We don't want charity, we want a fair trial. His only demand is a re-trial and a fair one!"   Mother Zeynep Koçak who stated that she is deeply effected by the death of death fasting Grup Yorum member Helin Bölek, said: "My son is hungry for justice."     MA / Esra Solin Dal
