State of Emergency declared for coronavirus in Slovakia and Washington 2020-03-12 09:43:40 NEWS CENTER - The Slovakian government declared a state of emergency (OHAL) in the country to prevent negative consequences of the new type of coronavirus (Kovid-19).   Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini said in a statement that they had declared State of emergency to prevent the spread of the virus as of today.   Stating that state of emergency has given the government the ability to impose sanctions on certain companies in the supply of various products, Pellegrini said, "The purpose of declaring a state of emergency is to create conditions for preventing and alleviating the consequences of the emergency situation in Slovakia (which Kovid-19 may cause).    At the request of Interior Minister Denisa Sakova and Defense Minister Peter Gajdos, the government decided to assist the army and police with 500 soldiers as part of the fight against coronavirus in the country.   Soldiers who will work at the border will be able to serve across the country if needed.   On the other hand, while a state of emergency was also declared at US capital Washington due to coronavirus,  Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte announced that due to the coronavirus epidemic, all commercial activities, except public services, will be stopped throughout the country.
