Call for the White rally: Hospitals are not factories, we are not slaves 2020-03-09 12:17:10   ANKARA - ATO Secretary General Ali Karakoç, underlining that the hospitals are considered to be factories while health workers are treated as slaves with the Health Transformation Program, Karakoç called for the White rally to be held on March 15.   According to the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) data, 12 healthcare workers have lost their lives in the last 10 years by being attacked by patients' relatives. In order to prevent violence in the field of health, the Parliamentary Examination Commission was established 6 years ago at the request of the TTB to enact Health Violence Law. While the prepared violence report was submitted to this commission, there has been no development regarding the ongoing violence in the field of health over the past 6 years.   Health workers, who are persistent in their demands, will hold a Great White Rally in Ankara on March 15 to enact the Health Violence Law. 10 thousand people are expected to attend the White Rally.   Following the rally held with the slogan “Fight against violence in health is growing”, if the demands of “5 Emergency Measures” are not met, there will be a one day work stoppage strike.    The '5 Emergency Measures' health workers demand is as follows: "The violence in health bill to be enacted, The violence during labour to be considered working accident or professional hazard, the duration of examination to be enough, the emergency room to be only for emergency patients, to strengthen primary health care and implement referral chain immediately."
