TGS: What are you hiding from the public? 2020-03-05 15:23:24 İSTANBUL - TGS making a statement regarding the pressure on the journalist following up the situation at the border asked: "What are you hiding from the public?" Turkey Journalists' Union (TGS) have made a written statement regarding the pressure on the journalists following up the situation with the refugees at the border. TGS stated that the pressure on journalists have increased and that the journalists are working under the harassment of the police.   'THOSE WHO COVER UP THE TRAGEDY ARE TARGETED'   The statement said: "20 local and foreign journalists were taken into custody at the border in a week. İdris Sayılğan and Alptekin Dursunoğlu was arrested. Again, Barış Terkoğlu and Hülya Kılınç were arrested for their articles. Those who are trying to cover up the tragedy at the borders are being targeted."   'WHAT IS TURKEY HIDING?'   TGS who asks 'What is Turkey hiding from the public' said: "Why are you preventing the public from recieving information by detaining and arresting journalists? Journalism is not a crime. It is a public duty, a responsibility. Journalists are the guarantors of the public accessing the truth.     TGS demanded the release of Rawin Sterk who is still detained.
